The Mariposa Grandmothers’ Annual Book Exchange @ St. Paul's Church

The Mariposa Grandmothers are preparing for their annual book exchange to be held on Saturday, Feb. 16, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Paul’s in Orillia, 62 Peter St. N.

Please bring five or six gently used books to exchange for books you haven’t read. Admission is by donation, with proceeds going to the Stephen Lewis Foundation.

Funds raised will support grandmothers in Africa who are raising children orphaned by HIV/AIDS. Tax receipts will be issued for donations of $20 or more.

Oomama Concert “Sounds of Love and Hope” @ St. John's United Church

Please join us on Saturday, February 23 for the Sounds of Love and Hope, an evening of exceptional musical performances taking place at St. John’s United Church. Hosted by Oomama and the Power of One at St. John’s, the concert will feature 
two dynamic and award-winning choral ensembles, Raise Her Voice Chamber Choir and A Few Good Men, from the Oakville Choir for Children and Youth along with soloist performances by soprano, Dr. Charlene Pauls and violinists Royce Richert and Leslie Ashworth. Doors open at 6 p.m. for refreshments, silent auction and marketplace. Concert begins at 7 p.m.  Tickets are $20 (Students $15)

Join For the Love of Grandmothers Fitness Challenge! Take an activity you already do, like walking, jogging, hiking, swimming playing pickle ball – whatever you love to do. Set yourself a challenge and do it more, farther, harder, faster. Or join an established fitness challenge like the Sun Run, Gran Fondo etc. Dedicate your effort to a grandmother you love. Ask friends and family to sponsor your efforts on the secure Stephen Lewis Foundation website. Complete your challenge between International Women’s Day March 8 – Grandparents’ Day Sept. 8, 2019.
