Join us for an afternoon of yarn-bombing at the Museum!

The Stephen Lewis Foundation’s Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign provides help and support to the thousands of children orphaned by the AIDS pandemic and the grandmothers who care for them. In 2012, the grandmothers in South Africa engaged in a colourful initiative to draw awareness to their cause. They knit brightly coloured squares and used them to “yarn-bomb” a tree. The yarn squares commemorate those who have died from AIDS, and serve as symbols of hope for the future.

The local chapter of the Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign, Grands ‘N’ More, will share their stories of working with grandmothers in African countries to combat the devastating effect the AIDS pandemic has had on families.

Learn how to knit your own yarn square, or participate in making a yarn-wrapped tree to show your commitment to human rights worldwide.
