Nelson Grans to Grans are cleaning up litter
Nelson Star August 24 2019
Nelson Grans to Grans are introducing a new fundraising project that particularly helps Nelson residents. Penny Riordan and Evan Zsadany have been collecting litter around Nelson for the last six years just for the simple joy of cleaning up our environment.
They are still going strong this year and now would like to add to their impact by using their efforts to raise money for the Grandmothers Campaign of the Stephen Lewis Foundation. Their goal is to raise $1,000 in each of August and September.
Some of the areas they have cleaned up include Cottonwood Creek path to Perrier Road, behind the 7-Eleven, along the rail tracks, Hall Mines Road on the Rosemont side, the whole Rosemont highway interchange, the hillside along the interchange, lower Silver King Road, and the park-and-ride by Cottonwood Creek. Generally they are finding that an area stays clean once it has been cleaned up.
If there is an area in Nelson you know needs cleaning up, let them know by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org and support them with an online donation. To donate and learn more go to bit.ly/32t7VLK.
