Event raises $5,000 for Lewis foundation

By Alliston Herald in

Grandmothers Embrace, South Simcoe held another outstanding sale of previously-loved jewelry, purses and scarves on Saturday, Oct. 27, raising more than $5,000 for the Stephen Lewis Foundation’s Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign.

This campaign, which includes over 300 Canadian Grandmothers groups, supports grassroots projects in sub-Saharan Africa to assist African grandmothers who are raising millions of orphaned grandchildren as a result of the AIDS epidemic.

We could not have raised this sum without the generous donations of jewelry, purses and scarves from our community, as well as the community’s attendance at the sale. Thanks also to Rocco’s Bakery and Deli for their continuing support.

We so enjoyed the wonderful fare you provided the day of our sale, as well as the discount tickets for your bakery provided for all our purchasers.

Grandmothers Embrace thank you for your ongoing support.

We will be back next year, so are happy to accept your donations any time. Contact Mary at 705-250-3353 or Sharron at 705-435-0809 .

Grandmothers Embrace,

South Simcoe.
