SUMMARY:Quilt on display at Almonte Fibre Fest
DESCRIPTION:To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Stephen Lewis Foundation\, grandmothers launched a project that exemplifies the solidarity between Canadian grandmothers and their counterparts on the African continent – the Solidarity Quilt. It represents the power and impact of women’s leadership\, activism and collaboration in communities around the world. \nThis unique piece of women’s handiwork has been crafted by 25 groups of grandmothers in a cross-Canada quilting bee with fabric contributed by over 300 Grandmothers in Canada and sub-Saharan Africa. \nVisit the quilt at the Almonte Fibre Fest from September 9-10.

DESCRIPTION:Calling all cyclists – Register now for the Greater Van Gogos Solidarity Cycle! \nSolidarity Cycle is open to people of all ages who want to support African grandmothers and the transformation of communities hit hardest by HIV and AIDS. Registration is open until August 12 and e-bikes are permitted. Ride length is 50 or 100 km forming one or two 50 km loops on dykes or quiet country roads in Pitt Meadows/Fort Langley. \nFor detailed information about the route and the schedule for the day\, click here. \nThe ride is supported\, snacks and refreshments provided.
