DESCRIPTION:Robert Pavlis\, well-known Master Gardener\, will provide gardening tips while he shares how he developed Aspen Grove\, his 6-acre botanical garden in Guelph. The garden features 3\,000 varieties of plants. Robert specializes in soil science and has been an instructor for Landscape Ontario. He is a garden blogger\, author\, artist\, and chemist.\nLive On Zoom on Monday\, March 7\, 2022\, at 7 PM EST/8 PM AST/8:30 PM NST/6 PM CST/4 PM PST/\nWebinar participants will be able to ask questions and local residents will have the option to actually tour Aspen Grove and meet Robert in person on June 12\, 2022.\nThere is no charge for this event\, but registration is required. Donations to the Stephen Lewis Foundation’s Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign are welcome and greatly appreciated.\nDonations of $20 and more will receive a charitable tax receipt directly from the Stephen Lewis Foundation.

DESCRIPTION:A Tapestry of Food\, Family and Forgiveness features Nigerian Canadian author Francesca Ekwuyasi and Canadian literary critic Donna Bailey Nurse sharing a conversation about Francesca’s debut novel “Butter Honey Pig Bread.” \nFrancesca is an author and a multidisciplinary artist from Lagos\, Nigeria. Her novel\, “Butter Honey Pig Bread” was long listed for the Giller Prize in 2020\, and was voted one of the CBCs 10 Best Canadian novels of 2021.  Our organization is very important to her as she was raised by her grandmother and she greatly respects all the work the SLF does for African grandmothers. \nDonna focuses on Black Canadian literature and Black women’s writing.  She is frequently heard on CBC’s radio show The Next Chapter with Shelagh Rogers. She is a literary journalist\, lecturer\, a critic for  Book Television\, and the author of two volumes of connected writing\, “What’s a Black Critic to Do?” and the editor of Revival: An Anthology of Black Canadian Writing.  Donna is currently working on a People’s History of Black Canada.
