SUMMARY:Visiting Zimbabwe: A Conversation with Idah Mukuka Nambeya & SLF Partners (Online)
DESCRIPTION:For decades\, community-led responses have been supporting and empowering people living with or affected by HIV and AIDS. These remarkably effective programs have only deepened over time\, as their connection to their communities ensure they are cutting the AIDS pandemic off at its roots.  \n\n\n\nIdah Mukuka Nambeya\, Senior Advisor to the Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign\, has visited and worked with community-based partners since the Stephen Lewis Foundation was founded. Learn how they are continuing to support and uplift their communities throughout the challenges of the dual pandemics of HIV and AIDS and COVID-19\, and how they see the future of their work. \nDon’t miss this important conversation on June 10th at 11 AM Eastern Daylight time\, 8 AM Pacific Daylight time\, 5 PM Central African Time.

SUMMARY:Explore Southern Africa - History/Politics
DESCRIPTION:From Hope to Despair: The journey from the magic of Nelson Mandela to the corruption of constitutional democracy 25 years later. Mandela’s vision during the apartheid era was for the eradication of racism and for the establishment of a constitutional democracy. He pictured a South Africa in which all its citizens had equal rights and where every adult would have the right to vote for the government of his or her choice. \nJudge Dennis Davis will discuss how this vision has been achieved and the rocky road forward for the new democracy in South Africa as well as democracies in other African states and around the world. \nJudge Davis is a Judge of the High Court of South Africa and Judge President of the Competition Appeal Court of South Africa. He has held professorial appointments at both the University of Cape Town and University of the Witwatersrand and has lectured at Harvard\, NYU\, Georgetown and Melbourne Law Schools as a visiting professor. He is the author of 11 books – his latest is LAWFARE 2019. He was a member of the team drafting the new South African constitution and is the host of a South African TV show ‘Judge for yourself with Dennis Davis’ focusing on human rights issues. \n
