As well as basic fabrics such as fleece\, flannelette\, cottons\, wools\, and blend\,s expect to find a wide selection of quilting fabric\, ‘fancies’ (great for costumes)\, drapery and upholstery materials and all manner of notions such as thread\, zippers\, buttons\, ribbon\,and beads. Depending on the year\, we may also receive donations of equipment such as sewing machines\, hand looms\, cutters\, ball winders\, and templates. Our merchandise is priced to sell (most fabric from $2 to $5 per metre and yarn from $2 per ball. Bargains abound. \nAdmission is $2. On Friday only\, and to manage crowds\, tickets must be obtained through Eventbrite. DESCRIPTION:From Hope to Despair: The journey from the magic of Nelson Mandela to the corruption of constitutional democracy 25 years later. Mandela’s vision during the apartheid era was for the eradication of racism and for the establishment of a constitutional democracy. He pictured a South Africa in which all its citizens had equal rights and where every adult would have the right to vote for the government of his or her choice. \nJudge Dennis Davis will discuss how this vision has been achieved and the rocky road forward for the new democracy in South Africa as well as democracies in other African states and around the world. \nJudge Davis is a Judge of the High Court of South Africa and Judge President of the Competition Appeal Court of South Africa. He has held professorial appointments at both the University of Cape Town and University of the Witwatersrand and has lectured at Harvard\, NYU\, Georgetown and Melbourne Law Schools as a visiting professor. He is the author of 11 books – his latest is LAWFARE 2019. He was a member of the team drafting the new South African constitution and is the host of a South African TV show ‘Judge for yourself with Dennis Davis’ focusing on human rights issues. \n
