Jean was a founding member of the Grandmothers of the Grand\, and a fellow mosaic artist from Fergus Ontario. She participated in OMA’s first group exhibition in 2021. Her artwork focused on birds and the effects of climate change. Jean’s presence and her beautiful mosaics will be missed by many. \nTo honour Jean’s memory\, 17 of the artists participating in OMA’s Putting the Pieces Back Together exhibition collaborated to produce a mosaic quilt of sorts. Each artist created up to 3 sections which were then assembled to create a unique mosaic. SUMMARY:Victoria Grandmothers Virtual Cycle Tour
DESCRIPTION:Choose your challenge! VG4A’s virtual cycle tour challenges each rider to pick the distance she can cover in the four weeks from August 13th – September 9th. Riders can use conventional bikes\, unconventional bikes\, e-bikes\, or even stationary bikes\, and cycle alone or with friends. All women 55 or older are welcome\, from beginner to veteran\, and it’s not necessary to join a grandmothers group. Cyclists will report their weekly kilometers to their team captain. As the grand total of kilometers grows\, participants will be guided on a virtual tour of sub-Saharan Africa to meet some of the women working for the community-based organizations they are supporting.\nRegistration is $20.
