Otoniya Juliane Okot Bitek is a Kenyan-born Ugandan-raised diasporic poet and scholar. She has lived in Canada for more than three decades and is an Assistant Professor in the Black Studies Program at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, joint-appointed in Gender Studies and English. She is an award-winning author. We, The Kindling is her first novel; it was long listed for the 2025 Giller Prize.
There is no charge for this event. Donations to the Stephen Lewis Foundation’s Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign are welcome and greatly appreciated.
