Ride to Turn the Tide

On September 6th and 7th some “Grassroot Grannies” and friends will cycle from Stittsville to Perth and return via Almonte in this two-day bicycle ride while others will cycle from Ashton to Almonte and return on September 7th. Distances cycled will vary from 50 km in the one-day event to between 120 and 210 km in the two-day event. Along the way the cyclists will be hosted by volunteer groups including the G2G group “Lanark County Grannies” in Perth. All cyclists will visit a school in Almonte on September 7 where the students will wave them on from the sidewalk in front of the school. In May, a delegation from the Grassroot Grannies visited the school where they presented a slideshow and talk about the Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign.
