Explore Africa – Book (Online)

29 April 2021 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm EDT

$25

In a casual and spontaneous conversation, Ruby Newman will discuss Baking Cakes in Kigali with author Gaile Parkin. Audience participation will be encouraged.

Baking Cakes in Kigali (storyline)
Angel Tungaraza has recently moved to Rwanda from her native Tanzania with her husband Pius and their five orphaned grandchildren. She pursues her passion: her small but increasingly successful business, baking individually designed cakes for her neighbours and friends from the community.
Hauntingly charming, funny, and involving, Baking Cakes in Kigali is a novel about the real meaning of reconciliation — about how, in the aftermath of tragedy, life goes on and people still manage to find reasons to celebrate.

The book’s theme resonates with the work Grandmothers Partnering with Africa does to support African grandmothers affected HIV and AIDS.
