October 6-30th: Silent Online Auction for a One-of-a-Kind Contemporary Mosaic

This auction is the first of its kind for Ontario Mosaic Artists (OMA) to commemorate the late Jean Loney. Jean was a founding member of the Grandmothers of the Grand, and a fellow mosaic artist from Fergus Ontario. She participated in OMA’s first group exhibition in 2021. Her artwork focused on birds and the effects of climate change. Jean’s presence and her beautiful mosaics will be missed by many.
To honour Jean’s memory, 17 of the artists participating in OMA’s Putting the Pieces Back Together exhibition collaborated to produce a mosaic quilt of sorts. Each artist created up to 3 sections which were then assembled to create a unique mosaic. It was an enriching project that allowed the artists to work together, even remotely, to produce this one-of-a-kind artwork.
The mosaic, entitled A Mosaic Quilt will be up for auction to raise funds for the Stephen Lewis Foundation will be up for auction beginning on Thursday, October 6th, and will end at 5 pm on October 30th.
